Offering support to Aching Arms

October 14, 2021

Coinciding with Baby Loss Awareness Week, the next of our Cuttsy Cares donations goes to Aching Arms, a charity supporting parents experiencing pregnancy loss and baby loss.  The charity provides a range of services based around their central pay-it-forward concept, where one family who has experienced loss gifts a token of support to other families who are going through it.

Pregnancy loss or baby loss is a subject surrounded by so much stigma that parents going through it often feel isolated, ashamed and alone and all while experiencing the pain of the grief itself.  The mental health impact is often overlooked and can be long lasting (affecting future pregnancies).

“Like so many others, baby loss is an issue that I have been personally affected by,” says Melanie our Marketing Manager. “At that time there was no support available and I remember experiencing an overwhelming feeling of isolation. So, when I saw a post about Aching Arms on social media, I was intrigued and wanted to find out more.”

Aching Arms offer support to bereaved parents experiencing baby loss by connecting them with a community and providing support services such as counselling.  Parents can gift an Aching Arms Comfort Bear (complete with a note of support) in memory of their baby to another family experiencing loss.

“It’s a small token but it could make such a difference,” adds Melanie.  “To know that you are not alone.  To know that someone out there understands.”

Aching Arms is building its range of services including projects to connect with bereaved fathers, and face-to-face events to bring families together in relaxed environments.  The Cuttsy Cares donation will fund 12.5 hours of one-to-one support for parents who reach out to Aching Arm’s ‘Supporting Arms’ counselling service.

“Having the support of businesses such as Cuttsy+Cuttsy not only means we can continue to offer comfort and support to bereaved mothers and fathers, it also helps raise awareness of the needs of bereaved families within the workplace.  I want to personally thank Cuttsy+Cuttsy for this kind donation and for helping to raise awareness of baby loss during Baby Loss Awareness Week 2021.”   Leanne Turner, Founder & CEO, Aching Arms

Since hearing about Aching Arms following the donation as part of Cuttsy Cares, a member of the Cuttsy+Cuttsy team has been able to share the charity’s details with a family in need of their support.
