Mind over marathon
The Cambridge Half marathon is just around the corner; a fact all too well-known by some of the Cuttsy team who will be taking part.
Recognising the huge benefits that running and all forms of exercise can have on people’s mental health and well-being, our runners have chosen to support a charity with mental health support at its core. Lifecraft offers a huge range of mental health services including creative activities, recovery groups, social activities, and employment and volunteering opportunities to its members. It also has a free mental health helpline and Suicide bereavement Support Service available year-round. Lifecraft is a user-led charity, meaning that all services are designed to promote recovery and are delivered by those who have experienced mental health difficulties themselves.
Our Cuttsy Cares donation will directly support Lifecraft by funding a psycho educational course that runs in a group setting, teaching people how to help themselves in the run up to and during counselling.
Thank you so much to those running the half-marathon this weekend and for the amazing donation. We’ve been wanting to run a second psycho-education course for a while as the first one was incredibly helpful to everyone who attended and now, with your funding, we can. Your efforts are massively appreciated and will make a huge difference. Thank you. - Gemma Barron, Chief Executive at Lifecraft
If you live in the Cambridgeshire or Peterborough area and you are suffering from any mental distress or know someone who is, the Lifecraft Lifeline is available from 11am – 11pm every day.
Good luck Kate, Sally, Beth, Holly and Hannah!
